American Dipper
Our first stop in Montana. We found a campground with a campsite on the Yaak River just a quarter mile up from where it joins the Kootenai (Koot-n-ee) River.
Magalli captured a shot of an American Dipper that lives on this section of the river. They get their name from the dance they do, bobbing their body up and down, just prior to diving head first into the water in search of aquatic insects.
There is also a family of Ospreys, with 3 young birds, living at the top of a dead tree where the two rivers meet.
The campground is cheap, small and quiet. Our kind of place! We plan to stay at least five days.
