Heading South
Although we are still travelling on highway 101 we have left the Pacific Coast and are on a southward heading along the Hood Canal. It is a natural waterway that is part of Puget Sound.
We have been on the road for over 90 days and have logged a bit over 3000 miles.
We are camped at Seal Rock Campground. The beach here is very rocky and seems to be one huge oyster bed, the’re everywhere! Harvesting is legal with a limit of 18 a day. It also seems to be a popular place for clamming and crabbing.
From the campground beach looking southeast we can see our next destination 80 miles in the distance. Mount Rainier. It is an active volcano that is only slightly lower in elevation than Mount Whitney. From here we can see the glacier covered peaks and are looking forward to a closer view.
