Mount Rainier
Mount Rainier rises 13,210 feet from its base for a total elevation of 14,411 feet. On a clear day it can easily be seen from Seattle which is about 60 miles away. The peaks contain 29 named glaciers that cover just over 30 square miles.
From the “Paradise” visitors center there is a steep trail that leads up to the “glacier view trail” that provides a closer view of the Nisqually and surrounding glaciers. If you turn around and look south west you can see Mount St. Helens 50 miles away.
We stayed in the park for seven days at two different campgrounds. We unpacked the little mule and rode to Paradise. We did a 5 mile round trip hike up the glacier view trail. Glaciers, meadows filled with wild flowers and Magalli also managed to take a few photos of a Hoary Marmot.
The park exceeded our expectations.
