Fairholme Campground
Lake Crescent is located at the northern end of Olympic National Park. The lake stretches 12 miles end to end and some say it is over 1000 feet deep in spots. Due to the low levels of nitrogen the water is crystal clear with 60 foot visibility at times. It is also home to the Beardslee Trout, a species of rainbow trout found nowhere else in the world.
Fairholme Campground is a busy place at the west end of the lake. So thickly wooded that when camped only 50 yards from shore the lake was almost impossible to see.
The campground is on a first come first serve basis and it is quite entertaining around check out time watching everyone doing the “campsite shuffle”.
