Cape Blanco Lighthouse

Built in 1870, situated on a peninsula that juts out into the Pacific Ocean 1 1/2 miles from the rest of the coast sits Cape Blanco Lighthouse. The Oldest and westernmost lighthouse in Oregon that is still in operation today.

The campground is about a mile away and sits in a wooded area on a bluff about 250 feet above the beach.  Because the peninsula sticks out so far into the Pacific it is quite a windy place. Fortunately the dense woods that surround the campground block most of it.

There is a steep paved road that leads to a wide pristine beach that is strewn with well aged driftwood and nary a soul to be seen. Part way down the road is a grassy area with a couple of picnic tables and gorgeous views of the setting sun.

Buenas Noches,
