Primative Camping

After leaving Elephant Butte we take a slight “laundry” detour and travel into the town once known as Hot Springs New Mexico. The town was renamed in May 1950 to Truth or Consequences after the NBC radio show.

Laundry and grocery shopping completed we’re off to Caballo Lake State Park. The park has 4 developed campgrounds and 170 developed campsites, however arriving on a Saturday was not good planningĀ  as all sites were occupied. Fortunately on the north side of the boat ramp dispersed camping was permitted so we settled in. The following day we were able to secure a developed site where this photo was taken. We will spend an additional 3 days here.

The area provided some opportunities for some photography. Some of those images can be seen in the gallery section.
