We're Off!
Finally we’re ready to go! We have handed the keys over to our new tenant, loaded up the “Little Mule” (the Yamaha) and at high noon have hit the road. First stop Elephant Butte State Park.
Just shy of 200 miles later we arrive at our destination. Elephant Butte Lake is the largest reservoir in New Mexico and boasts over 325 campsites within 3 developed and 10 primitive campgrounds. We chose to stay at South Monticello Campground at the northern end of the lake. All sites have water and electricity and with our state park pass the fee is $4.00 a night. What a deal!
We will stay here for 3 nights and plan to do nothing but chill, eat, drink and sleep.
This is me doing one of the above with the lake in the background.
Cheers,
Mike
